Job Summary
We have a 2-year 100% remote DBA contract in Jackson MS. The anticipated start date is immediate.
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator with 5 years of SQL database administration experience. This is a fully remote 2-year contract opportunity. The DBA will be responsible for responding to database issues performing routine maintenance troubleshooting and ensuring optimal database performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Write review and optimize in-application SQL statements.
- Ensure database performance security and availability.
- Maintain thorough documentation and specifications.
- Perform common database operations including upgrades backups recovery and migrations.
- Monitor server resource usage and optimize performance as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
Additional Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to user-reported issues.
- Protect databases from unauthorized access and potential threats.
- Ensure databases are backed up and recoverable in the event of data loss.
- Track and report database usage and performance metrics.
- Recommend improvements for database maintenance and security.
- Work closely with IT project managers and database developers.
- Design databases with both front-end and back-end considerations.
- Optimize large and complex SQL queries for performance.
- Configure popular database engines and manage clusters when necessary.
- Plan resource requirements based on high-level specifications.
- Troubleshoot common database issues efficiently.
- Use profiling and monitoring tools to enhance performance.
- Utilize code versioning tools such as GitLab.
- Work with SSIS packages as needed.
