Network Engineer (RF Mesh & Utility Networks)
Location: Houston TX (3 days a week onsite)

Job Description:
We are looking for a Network Engineer to support the implementation monitoring and troubleshooting of RF mesh networks connecting system wide smart meters to the ITRON application platform. This role involves hands-on network operations incident resolution and support across utility and enterprise network environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in networking concepts and an interest in wireless and utility-based communication systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Support and troubleshoot RF mesh network connectivity between smart meters and ITRON systems.

Assist with the deployment and maintenance of wired wireless and cellular networks.

Perform configuration and basic troubleshooting of routers and switches.
-
Monitor network performance and identify issues using tools such as SolarWinds Wireshark and Nessus.
-
Participate in the installation maintenance and optimization of network hardware and communication links.
-
Execute firmware updates and configuration changes under established procedures.
-
Support network documentation change management and operational best practices.
-
Use basic automation scripts (Python PowerShell or Bash) to assist with monitoring and reporting tasks.
Required Skills & Experience:

3 years of hands on experience in network operations or engineering support.

Understanding of network fundamentals including TCP/IP DHCP DNS and routing concepts.

Basic knowledge of RF mesh networking and wireless communication principles.
-
Experience working with routers switches and network monitoring tools.
-
Familiarity with packet capture and troubleshooting tools.
-
Ability to work in mission critical environments such as utilities substations or data centers.
-
Excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
Good to have an understanding of Electric Utility concepts.

Good to have Aruba wireless environment experience.

Good to have NERC CIP environment experience.
