General Description / Primary Purpose

The Associate Athletic Director of Development for Intercollegiate Athletics under the direction of the Senior Associate Athletics Director and Assistant Vice President or above is responsible for seeking identifying cultivating soliciting and stewarding major donors in support of Athletic Department initiatives and Osprey Club priorities. The position serves as the lead fundraiser for the annual fund (Swoop Impact Fund) and is responsible for major gifts premium seating sales annual giving campaigns and signature fundraising initiatives including Giving Day and 904 Day. The Associate AD also provides leadership for key donor and departmental events and organizes and manages the Athletics Hall of Fame Committee and its annual activities.

Job Functions

Fundraising & Donor Engagement

  • Serve as the primary driver of fundraising efforts for the Swoop Impact Fund including strategic planning donor solicitation growth of annual participation and stewardship.

  • Responsible for seeking identifying cultivating and soliciting major gifts and partnerships on behalf of the Athletics Department.

  • Conducts an average of three to five substantive donor visits per week to discover cultivate solicit and steward philanthropic support.

  • Meet annual revenue and membership goals for the Osprey Club and Athletics Development as established by the Director of Athletics Senior Associate AD and University Developments Assistant VP.

  • Identify and qualify new prospects for major gifts and support of Athletic Department priorities; document all activity in the CRM database.

  • Develop new sources of fundraising and revenue generation including increases in annual giving from current donors and future prospects.

  • Nurture long-term relationships with donors including individuals corporations and foundations.

  • Attend donor events as a representative of the Athletic Department and maximize these events for cultivation and stewardship opportunities.

  • Work with the Senior Associate AD and AVP of Development to support bequests trusts and other planned giving opportunities.

Campaigns Premium Seating & Special Initiatives

  • Lead planning and execution of Giving Day and 904 Day coordinating messaging goals volunteer engagement and collaboration with University Advancement.

  • Oversee sales of premium seating including suites club areas and hospitality products ensuring strong customer experience and revenue growth.

  • Support strategy execution and followup for sport-specific fundraising initiatives and donor-driven campaigns.

Events & Special Projects

  • Assist in planning and execution of fundraising events including Swoop Into the Season UNF Fore Scholarships Golf Classic Blue & Gray Bash and other special events.

  • Organize and lead the Athletics Hall of Fame Committee guiding nomination review selection event planning and overall execution of the Hall of Fame program.

  • Create publications collateral and promotional materials for cultivation and solicitation efforts.

Collaboration & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Attend University Development and Alumni Engagement (UDAE) staff meetings and PTS meetings; maintain accurate and updated CRM records.

  • Work collaboratively with University Development staff in the areas of prospect identification stewardship proposal development and campaign planning.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics Senior Associate AD or UDAE Assistant VP related to departmental fundraising goals.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Active member of the Athletics External Operations team.

  • Represent the Athletic Department and University as needed on committees boards and community engagements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate AD Assistant AD or UDAE Assistant VP that support overall fundraising success.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises athletics coordinator as well as other support roles as needed. Serves as acting department head for Athletics Development in the absence of the Senior Associate AD.

Required Qualifications

Masters and 2 years of relevant experience or Bachelors degree and 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
