Job Summary

5-6 Months with a Local Authority

Summary
  • The Performance & Data Analyst is a crucial role within a local authority tasked with delivering accurate timely and meaningful data analysis and insights to the Councils Management Board. This position supports evidence-based decision-making continuous improvement and operational efficiency primarily focusing on Childrens Services with an emphasis on Education. Familiarity with School Census returns CME/EHE returns Key Stage Collections and Education systems such as Education MRI VYED and Nexus is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
  • Analyse performance data to identify trends needs and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and monitor performance targets to support service improvement.
  • Produce clear concise reports tailored for senior managers Councillors and operational teams.
  • Automate and streamline reporting processes wherever possible.
  • Support directorates in developing outcome-focused performance measures.
  • Challenge and validate data outturns to ensure accuracy and identify risk areas.
  • Provide proposals for remedial action based on analytical findings.
  • Deliver statutory data submissions (Equalities national returns regulatory reporting).


Requirements

Essential Experience Required
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and produce actionable insights.
  • Advanced proficiency in:
    • SQL
    • SSRS (report writing)
    • Power BI / Tableau
    • Excel & Power Query
    • Statistical software tools
    • GIS (desirable)
  • Experience managing and integrating data from multiple sources.
Essential Qualifications Required
  • Degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in data analytics performance management or related fields.

  • Working hours: 36 hours per week
  • Location: Civic Offices 2 Watling Street Bexleyheath Kent DA6 7AT United Kingdom
  • Work pattern: 4 days remote 1 day in the office
  • Payment schedule: Bi-weekly
