Your Role

Radio-Canada Acadie is seeking a Assignment Editor (regional) for New Brunswick.

Reporting to the Senior Manager (journalism) and working in close collaboration with the daily assignment desk (front line) you will be primarily responsible for the long-term planning special and high-impact files.

Working with our journalistic teams you will oversee the coordination and organization of original human-interest and exclusive coverage. You will also collaborate with producers news editors and other members of the editorial team to maximize the impact of these stories across all our platforms. Significant emphasis is placed on the reach of this content within the digital landscape.

Equipped with a solid understanding of New Brunswick current events and Radio-Canadas Journalistic Standards and Practices you demonstrate creativity and innovation. Your big-picture vision and ability to adapt to changing situations allow you to organize work effectively. You have a keen interest in digital platforms and a strong command of their conventions.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

Your profile:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent.

  • Five (5) years of experience in journalism or equivalent.

Skills:

  • Extensive general knowledge and a deep understanding of regional news and realities.

  • Mastery of French; excellent knowledge of the other official language (English).

  • In-depth knowledge of newsroom logistics (Radio Web and TV).

  • Deep understanding of digital formats and codes (an asset).

  • Strong command of medium-specific writing techniques and production methods.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Corporations Journalistic Standards and Practices.

Skills and Other Requirements:

  • Ability to plan organize and coordinate the daily work of radio television and digital journalists under tight deadlines and high-pressure environments.

  • Ability to anticipate and coordinate journalistic subjects on a long-term schedule.

  • Strong leadership and autonomy.

  • Familiarity with production software (Dalet MediaCentral INews) used at Radio-Canada is an asset.

  • Valid drivers license.
