JOB TITLE: Team Leader Application Hosting Services
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Short-Term Professional (P3)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Under the general supervision of the Chief of TECM and the direct supervision of the Chief of
Foundational Technology Services the incumbent is required to oversee and coordinate the Platform
Operations team.
The position will carry out supervisory responsibilities including lead the Platform Operations team
and will be responsible for the whole range of applications hosted in the WFP IT infrastructure both
cloud and hybrid (on-prem). The incumbent will report to the Head of Infrastructure Services in
TECM and will be responsible of the following areas: applications based on Microsoft and Linux
technologies shared web-hosting solutions database management support to investigations and
forensics infrastructure and system administration day-to-day operations and 2nd-3rd level support
project support and implementation non-routine maintenance performance monitoring and
reporting.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Focal point for the application hosting services within the WFP TEC Division.
2. Coordinate manage and bring forward the implementation of the new hosting solutions both
cloud-based and hybrid.
3. Administration of the WFP Beneficiary Information Management platform (SCOPE) hosting
services in collaboration with the SCOPE Product Development team.
4. Coordinate the move of existing and new applications onto the newly implemented corporate
application hosting environment and cloud infrastructure.
5. Provide technical support to the Application Developers and advice to Business Engagement
Managers.
6. Coordinate resources and liaise with the service providers and external partners to ensure
uptime efficiency and user satisfaction.
7. Proactively monitor Application Hosting environments both dedicated and shared. Uses
software and tools to investigate issues collect performance statistics create reports and
automate administration activities.
8. Coordinate the activities required by the WFP Investigation Unit upon approved requests;
Provide IT forensic support. Guarantee the required confidentiality level.
9. Support the activities aimed at consolidating and harmonizing the IT resources and reducing
IT total cost of ownership.
10. Other duties as required.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
Planning and Implementation of cloud-based and hybrid hosting environments and containers
platforms.
Provide 2nd and 3rd level hosting support and maintenance.

Testing and maintenance of SCOPE Disaster Recovery infrastructure.
Maintenance and improvement of SCOPE data protection and network segregation.
Support the O&M of dedicated SCOPE server farm.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Degree in the field of Computer Science/Engineering or Information Systems or
equivalent work experience.
Experience: At least 5 years practical hands-on IT experience in a 24x7 mission critical
environment supporting production applications and/or administration of enterprise
IT services preferably in large international organizations.
Knowledge & Skills:
Sound skills in Linux Operating System.
Extensive experience in Shell Python/Django Ansible scripting.
Good knowledge of database technologies among different DB platforms
(Postgres MySQL MariaDB MS SQL).
Extensive knowledge of virtualization engines (VMWare Docker KVM).
Extensive knowledge of Web and Application Servers (Apache Nginx
Tomcat MS IIS) and stacks (WSGI).
Good knowledge in Linux Containership technologies and services
Good knowledge and understanding of Linux security (IP tables Firewall).
Knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies and principles.
Experience across best-practice Methodologies such as Agile SCRUM
DevOps and/or ITIL v4 or superior.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure
environment.
Good interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and directed able to work
effectively with little or no guidance.
Keen attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Extensive experience working in a team-oriented collaborative
environment and good customer service orientation.
Cloud certification on AWS Azure or GCP is required.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English with an intermediate knowledge of another official
UN language (Arabic Chinese French Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of
WFPs working languages) is desirable
