About the role
As Principal Consumer Insurance (CI) Strategy you will support the development of the Consumer Insurance strategy ensuring alignment with Group strategy and enterprise priorities. Reporting to the Executive Manager Consumer Insurance Strategy this role plays a critical advisory and leadership position partnering closely with senior leaders to solve complex strategic problems shape long-term direction and deliver high-quality insights to Executive Leadership and Boards.
This is a First Line Leader role at Fixed Salary Band 6 offering exposure to senior executives and the opportunity to influence outcomes at scale.
More specifically you will:
Strategy development
Support the development of the Consumer Insurance strategy in close collaboration with senior leaders ensuring it is clear actionable and aligned with Group strategy
Define problem statements and draft proposals to scope activities milestones deliverables and engagement model
Lead hypothesis-driven first-principles problem solving across a wide range of strategic issues
Facilitate strategy workshops including off-sites deep dives and ad hoc sessions
Deliver strategic research and insights including market scans competitor analysis deep dives opportunity assessments and commercial analyses
Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure integration and alignment of strategic initiatives
Provide coaching and mentoring on junior members of the team (as required)
Business and strategic planning
Support Consumer Business Planning activities in line with Group Strategy milestones
Facilitate alignment between Consumer Insurance plans and broader enterprise objectives
Track progress against strategic milestones identifying dependencies risks and trade-offs
Provide clear data-driven analysis and recommendations to support executive decision-making
Board and executive deliverables
Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations and reports for the Group and Consumer Boards Executive Leadership Team (ELT) regulators and partners
Ensure timely accurate and insightful content for key Board meetings particularly May and November cycles
Clearly articulate strategic priorities progress risks and opportunities for Consumer Insurance
Ad hoc strategic analysis
Support additional strategic commercial or market analysis as required
About you
You are a highly capable strategy professional with strong executive presence commercial judgement and a passion for solving complex business problems.
Approximately 7 years experience in corporate or business unit strategy including some leadership experience
At least 5 years strategy consulting experience at a top-tier firm strategy house (preferred)
Insurance experience desirable but not essential
Demonstrated experience applying strategic frameworks in corporate or consulting environments
Strong hypothesis-driven and structured problem-solving capability
High level of commercial and financial acumen including valuation concepts
Advanced analytical quantitative and qualitative skills
Proven ability to influence and manage senior executive stakeholders
Ability to lead inspire and collaborate with diverse professional teams
Expert-level written communication including Board and executive-level materials
Confidence facilitating complex strategic conversations and workshops
Strong data-led decision-making capability
