The design of the hotel takes inspiration from the citys industrial heritage and brutalist architecture mixing concrete and moody elements with softer textures and confectionery touch points drawing on Yorks famous alumni including the Rowntree and the Terry families. As a city York has always had so much to offer; from its Roman and Viking roots to the cosmopolitan city it is today. Situated on the corner of Rougier Street the hotel is a stones throw away from some of the citys most famous attractions including York Minster York Castle and the historic city walls. The River Ouse are both a few minute walks away with the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens York Art Gallery and the world-famous university a short walk over the bridge.
