Culinary and Housekeeping Assistant Internal/External Posting
Full-Time / Fixed-Term Contract (March 31 2027)
Position Description:
The Culinary and Housekeeping Assistant is responsible for assisting the Culinary Team in ensuring team objectives and deliverables are met in a timely manner including the delivery of nutritious meals for participants and staff and the maintenance and cleanliness of kitchen food storage areas and the facility in general. This position will have a flexible schedule to meet program needs and objectives across Gwekwaadziwin Miikans continuum of care.
This is a one-year contract with opportunity for extension pending funding.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Reporting to the Culinary and Housekeeping Specialist
- Responsible for taking day-to-day direction from the Culinary and Housekeeping Specialist
- Responsible for supporting program flow of operations including storage and maintenance of goods and gear; preparing and delivering gear and items for camp transitions and program initiatives
- Responsible for maintaining the kitchen and food storage areas
- Responsible for supporting the delivery of life skills within the program
- Assist program participants in continuing their recovery via life skills education and therapeutic intervention
- Responsible for ensuring that staff and participants maintain hygienic standards throughout program facilities
- Responsible for supporting culinary and housekeeping inventory management
- Responsible for other duties relevant to culinary and housekeeping initiatives
Qualifications:
- Minimum requirement is a diploma or experience in culinary nutrition or related field
- Experience working with at-risk populations considered an asset
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects
- Preference given to an Individual of Anishinaabe ancestry with knowledge and understanding of Anishinaabek history clan systems protocols etiquette cultures and traditions.
- Demonstrated professional level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Mature individual who can work independently
Requirements:
- Possess a valid Ontario class G drivers license in good standing with access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to work outside normal business hours as required
Salary:Starting at $44000
Term: Full-time one-year contract with opportunity for extension pending funding
