Construction Inspector II

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative highly talented Construction Inspector II for immediate employment in the Novi MI office. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

• Field inspection and oversight of transportation construction projects including bridges road traffic signals signing ITS and underground facilities.
• Monitor and record the work and progress of contractors while tracking material quality and usage using FieldBook AASHTOWare and ProjectWise.
• Verify that traffic control measures are implemented and maintained during construction.
• Maintain communication between AECOM supervisors and peers MDOT and local agency personnel contractor personnel and the general public.
• Perform NPDES inspections.
• Basic understanding of construction principles and practices and ability to document any and all relevant events issues and variances
• Good active written and verbal communication with construction personnel and engineers; ability to perform basic computations and calculations; and ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant construction inspection experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education 
• Valid Drivers license with good driving record
• Weekend and night work will be required
• Overnight travel within the state may be required

Preferred Requirements

• 4 years of MDOT or other DOT construction inspection experience
