Reuters is seeking an ambitious Senior Sports Pictures Desk Editor with outstanding knowledge of international sport and excellent written and spoken English ready to thrive in a fast-paced global newsroom.
Our Global Pictures Desk sits at the heart of how the world sees sport. From the Olympic Games and FIFA World Cups to world championships across summer and winter disciplines we ensure that every defining moment is delivered to clients worldwide with speed and accuracy.
We operate as one newsroom a fully integrated global operation where pictures text digital graphics specialists work in seamless coordination. When news breaks we move together. When history is made we are first to frame it. Our collaboration is our competitive edge.
This is a senior full-time desk-based position requiring flexibility and commitment. You will work within a global 24/7 rotating shift system aligned with the rhythm of live sport including weekends afternoons and evenings.
About the Role
As Senior Sports Pictures Desk Editor - Livedesk you will:
Edit sport events live as photographers file pictures directly from their cameras.
Write clear fast accurate English captions that bring context to every image.
Work closely with colleagues across pictures text video and online to produce integrated multimedia coverage reflecting our One Newsroom approach.
Contribute to cross-format awareness recognizing how visual storytelling extends across both still imagery and moving images.
About You
Youre a fit for the position of Senior Sports Pictures Desk Editor - Livedesk if you have:
Deep knowledge of global sport particularly football and an instinct for what matters in live competition.
Fluent English (additional languages are a strong advantage including Spanish).
Experience in caption writing and metadata tagging (highly desirable).
Strong organizational communicationand interpersonal skills remaining calm under pressure.
A degree or background in journalism mass communication or English studies or equivalent work experience.
An interest in photography and visual storytelling.
Working knowledge of pictureediting tools like Photoshop.
While this is a picture-editing focused role an interest in and working knowledge of video editing is beneficial reflecting the increasingly integrated nature of our multimedia newsroom.
