The purpose of Group Supply Chain is to grow shareholder value through the definition of Supply Chain strategy partnering with the country supply chain teams for the execution thereof. Purpose

Responsible for managing a defined sub-category portfolio within Directs translating the broader Global Category strategy into executable sourcing plans commercial frameworks and supplier performance programmes that deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities include
 

Delivery & Performance  

General 

  • Develop and maintain sub-category strategies and execution roadmaps aligned to the approved Global Category portfolio strategy incorporating lifecycle cost modelling risk allocation supplier capability assessments and innovation plans. Embrace an agile Supply Chain by being adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities 
  • Project management of key initiatives

Commercial Value Delivery & Supplier Partnering 

  • Support the development of the broader category portfolio strategy value creation plans and business cases by providing relevant data analysis opportunity assessments and market intelligence.
  • Understand regional strategic priorities and develop relevant Category Management strategies to support business needs and improved value delivery with a focus on cost reduction working capital and TCO initiatives.
  • Implement value creation and supplier engagement strategies that align to the overall global Supply Chain strategy critical tasks performance targets and Business Unit priorities   
  • Develop and manage relationships with strategic suppliers to drive step change in value and deliver innovative solutions that position Anglo American as a partner of choice
  • Lead defined commercial workstreams within GFA (General Framework Agreement) negotiations including commercial model development pricing structures performance mechanisms amendment governance and risk allocation frameworks. Design and implement performance-based and lifecycle commercial structures including KPI frameworks incentive/penalty mechanisms availability-based models and total cost of ownership optimisation across equipment and technology portfolios.
  • Structure and evaluate commercial risk allocation mechanisms including liability frameworks performance guarantees liquidated damages and incentive models ensuring alignment between commercial technical and operational risk profiles.
  • Applying Total Value Proposition (TVP) levers to optimize value across the portfolio through innovation risk mitigation and growth throughout the relationship life cycle

 Planning 

  • Plan schedule resource and execute activities relating to relevant contracts in category portfolio
  • Identify enable & track value and inclusive procurement opportunities commercial initiatives and specific resource requirements
  • Track and monitor progress tracking against category management targets  
  • Support the development of robust financial models and business cases to quantify value delivery including NPV analysis lifecycle cost modelling working capital optimisation and sensitivity analysis to support investment and sourcing decisions. 

Sourcing & Contracts Management  

  • Accountable for the commercial lifecycle management of allocated contracts within delegated authority limits ensuring structured governance change control performance management and proactive risk mitigation throughout the agreement term. Ensure the effective and efficient execution of contracts management activities for allocated portfolio (including the loading of finalized contracts onto the system to enable transactions)
  • Manage the implementation of bespoke agreements that outline innovation joint development technical commercial relationship and performance expectations
  • Support the Supply Chain Management function with on-site implementation of end-to-end commercial activities and the resolution of escalated issues   
  • Implement value opportunities and assist with the resolution of risks and identification of risk mitigation solutions pertaining to the portfolio
  • Support the operations and local supply chain teams in optimizing aftermarket spares consumables and long-term service agreement commercial models to ensure competitiveness transparency and alignment with asset performance requirements.

Inclusive Procurement 

  • Understand community specific needs and identify value creation opportunities to address these
  • Drive a culture of community development and inclusive procurement with stakeholders that are aligned to the global and regional Inclusive Procurement strategies 
  • Responsible for providing input to and delivering against inclusive procurement and commercial plans to ensure targets are met against scheduled milestones
  • Implement an Inclusive Procurement programme that will increase host community commercial participation and support the development of thriving communities
  • Embed clear Inclusive Procurement expectations targets and initiatives in commercial agreements 
  • Support the global Inclusive Procurement team to identify supplier development needs and opportunities and support the development of solutions  

Sustainability & Social 

  • Encourage and maintain a culture of Sustainable Value through ESG TCO initiatives innovation working capital and cost reduction)  
  • Implement sustainable value creation strategies initiatives and associated business cases that advance Anglo American technical community sustainability and financial ambitions  

Physical Supply Chain 

  • Build and maintainrelationships with materialsmanagementandwarehousing teams to ensure alignment on future demandrequirements working capital optimizationopportunitiesandtheresolution ofsupplier non-performance 
  • Support Materials Planning in Anglo American through alignment with Physical Supply Chain

 Supply Chain Excellence  

  • Responsible for the seamless and quality handover of relevant contracts to on-site Supply Chain teams that will support the site-based implementation and day-to-day performance management
  • Adoptnew ways of workingand systemsusagewithin own team with suppliers and key stakeholders 
  • Monitor that supplier performance based on contractual KPIs is tracked and updated by relevant Supply Chain Manager 
  • Monitor category/contract/supplier performance and intervene/escalate proactively where required
  • Proactively identify and develop innovation and digitisation roadmaps with strategic suppliers collaborating with Technical the operations and SC COE teams to build and implement compelling business cases that enhance safety productivity and asset performance. Support the Supply Chain Manager and Company Representative functions in the implementation and operationalisation of active contracts as well as continued contractor management initiatives

Qualifications :

 An undergraduate qualification - Bachelor degree level or equivalent alternatively relevant tertiary qualification and proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity

Experience: Practical experience in relevant field

Desirable: Experience within the Directs space (for example equipment and systems) advantageous. A

Technical Knowledge:

  • Good technical knowledge across the SC value chain
  • Ability to integrate Commercial PSC Supplier Management & Purchasing sub disciplines
  • Safety & Sustainability as it relates to Supply Chain & Inclusive Procurement
  • Good commercial negotiation and deal-making business case development investment appraisal
  • Category Management strategic sourcing and contracting within capital equipment and technology categories applying Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) lifecycle modelling and asset performance optimisation principles. Supplier Relationship Management
  • Business Planning Business Case development
  • Working knowledge of regional and local Inclusive Procurement requirements
