Your Team:



The Office of Communications oversees all public relations for the agency and is responsible for crafting a proactive strategy to promote agency initiatives programs and accomplishments to the media our partners our staff and the public. The division manages all interactions with the press social media channels the agencys website internal communications as well as digital and print materials.


The Office of Communications is composed of 3 divisions:


- Press


- Digital


- Creative Services



Your Impact:


As HPDs Digital and Creative Communications Coordinator youll be at the center of how the agency communicates with New Yorkers. Youll use video social media and other digital platforms to highlight our programs promote housing initiatives and strengthen community engagement. Your work will directly shape how the public understands HPDs efforts to create and preserve affordable housing making this role essential to building trust and momentum around the Citys housing goals. By transforming complex policies into compelling accessible stories youll help New Yorkers see the real impact of HPDs work in their communities and why it matters in tackling the housing crisis.



Your Role:


In this role youll be both a storyteller and a strategist producing creative digital content that brings HPDs work to life. Youll lead with video production while managing the agencys social media presence updating the website and driving innovative campaigns that capture public attention. Youll work closely with colleagues across HPD and external partners making sure our communications reflect the urgency creativity and impact of our mission. By combining sharp digital instincts with strong collaboration skills youll help HPD not only inform the public but inspire action around the Citys housing future. They will report to the Assistant Commissioner of Communications and collaborate closely with every member of the communications team as well as the agencys senior leadership. The work is often time sensitive and often requires work outside business hours.



Your Responsibilities:


- Craft and execute digital and creative communications plan inclusive of every social media and non-traditional digital channel.

- Develop and execute a creative and digital media strategy identifying opportunities to amplify the agencys message across platforms.

- Quickly create engaging video content for Instagram and Facebook Reels YouTube and other platforms including staying abreast of emerging technologies and

- Manage creative services including the creation of fliers graphics and other materials needed by departments throughout the agency.

- Identify create edit and design written and multimedia content by working with other departments across the agency and external partners ensuring accuracy relevance and consistency of information while optimizing the agencys reach.

- Draft social media content website content as well as other public facing digital content.

- Photograph video and live post from events and other media opportunities.

- Create digital toolkits. Write and edit content for agency partners to use on social media and implement new ways of communicating effectively with partners.


Your Experience


- 3 years of full-time experience in communications public relations digital media or related fields preferred. Open to candidates with experience in adjacent fields who have a deep passion for social media and creative services.

- Experience creating original content and engagement on all social media platforms including Twitter Facebook Instagram and YouTube especially video content.

- Ability to handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment.

- Strong analytical and organization skills attention to detail and ability to fact-check and synthesize complex issues on a range of housing and urban policy topics.

- Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential matters and excellent judgment.

- Ability to work well independently and as a team player switching often between the two.

- Passion for social media and communications is a must! Excitement for graphic design videography and web design a plus

- A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
