JOB DESCRIPTION: Job Title: Director of Custodial Services
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of the tasks assigned.
Department: Facilities / Operations
Reports To: Director of Maintenance/Assistant Superintendent
Position Summary:The Director of Custodial Services is responsible for planning organizing and managing all
custodial operations across the school district. This role ensures that all facilities are clean safe
and well-maintained to support a healthy learning environment for students staff and the
community.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
- Oversee custodial staff across all district buildings including hiring training scheduling and performance evaluations.
- Develop and enforce custodial standards procedures and best practices
- Supervise building custodial supervisors and lead staff meetings and trainings
Operations & Maintenance:
- Ensure all schools and facilities meet cleanliness sanitation and safety standards
- Develop cleaning schedules (daily weekly seasonal and special projects)
- Coordinate custodial support for events athletics and community use of facilities
Budget & Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the custodial services budget
- Monitor and control costs for labor equipment and supplies
- Evaluate and procure cleaning equipment tools and materials
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal health and safety regulations ( standards)
- Maintain proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals (SDS compliance)
- Implement safety training programs and procedures
Facilities Collaboration:
- Work closely with maintenance facilities and administrative teams
- Participate in long-term facilities planning and improvement initiatives
- Support emergency response efforts (e.g. weather events sanitation concerns)
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities to ensure standards are met
- Address complaints and implement corrective actions promptly
- Establish performance metrics and continuous improvement strategies
