Duties & ResponsibilitiesDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Oversight
- Supervise day-to-day operations including routing and scheduling to ensure optimal utilization of fleet and staff
Client Relations
- Conduct multiple daily operational meetings with the client to ensure service delivery standards are maintained
Fleet Maintenance
- Liaise with the mechanical workshop to ensure the fleet is maintained in optimal operating condition
- Ensure vehicle availability and operational readiness through effective coordination with the workshop
Financial & Resource Control
- Monitor and control vehicle fuel consumption
- Manage onsite fuel bowser control
- Control overtime
Safety Health Environment & Quality (SHEQ)
- Execute SHEQ responsibilities including toolbox talks SHE committee meetings and SHE inspections
- Identify operational risks and implement preventative measures to achieve a zero-harm working environment
- Conduct PTOs JHAs and coaching sessions to promote safe work practices and continuous improvement
- Ensure full compliance with national transport safety legislation and company policies
Industrial Relations & Discipline
- Lead and conduct formal investigations into operational incidents or employee misconduct
- Preside over and conduct disciplinary hearings in accordance with company policy and the NBCRFI Main Agreement
Performance Management & Reporting
- Conduct staff briefings and debriefings
- Coach drivers on Drivecam events using Mix Telematics reports
- Compile and submit comprehensive monthly shift reports covering operational performance safety and KPIs
Training & Delegation
- Train and mentor the Controller on conducting PTOs coaching procedures and accurate capturing of hours and keep records of the training
- Ensure the Controller is fully competent and able to take full charge of the shift in the Supervisors absence maintaining operational safety and reporting standards
- Ensure all employees working under your supervision are trained and authorized to perform their tasks safely and efficiently
- Ensure all drivers and operators competency records inductions and medicals are current and renewed prior to their expiry
Administration
- Ensure all operational administration is completed accurately and submitted timeously
Minimum RequirementsEducation
- Tertiary qualification in Logistics or Transportation Management
Licensing
- Valid Code 10 (C1) or EC1 drivers license (required)
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years experience in a supervisory position
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a senior supervisory role within the Transport Industry
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and strong general computer literacy
- In-depth knowledge of the NBCRFI Main Agreement
- Working knowledge of MiX Telematics and DriveCam systems
Core Competencies
- Strong drive to achieve production targets while maintaining high operational standards
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to supervise lead and motivate staff
- Comprehensive SHEQ experience within the transport environment
