The Role
This is a global Senior Buyer role leading the management negotiating and buyer of ocean container rates.
What Youll Do
- Sourcing and Contracting Activities that include but not limited to:
- Sourcing event bid strategy & management
- Bid analytics
- Coordination and alignment of RFQ package components including Terms & Conditions SOR RFQ documentation
- Leadership sourcing recommendation / alignment.
- Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to the GM Audit Services
- Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items
- Support commercial budget activities
- Support logistics supplier management initiatives including Strategic Supplier Engagement
- Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution
- Perform rate management activities including spot buys rate analysis and supplier requests
- Participate in supplier KPI reviews
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Logistics Finance Industrial Engineering or related fields
- 5 years of work experience in the related fields
- Ocean carrier work experience
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Finance/Engineering/Logistics Certifications
- Masters degree in Supply Chain Logistics Finance Industrial Engineering or related fields
- Strong multi-faceted experience in Logistics and Supply Chains including working knowledge of various logistics modes and supply base dynamics
- Strong Commercial Negotiation experience
- Robust experience in complex bid and contract management
- Working knowledge in data analysis and bid management software
- Working experience in data analytics environment.
- Strong purchasing negotiation skills in logistics or other services
- Strong understanding of the network optimization concepts and process
- Strong Technical capabilities including Data Mining and Analysis including knowledge of SQL Tableau and MS Access
- Knowledge of Mapping Tools including MapInfo
- Leadership ability to manage complex projects
- High Analytic Capability in situations which are ambiguous and complex
- Strong Senior Leadership presentation skills
- High level of oral and written communications skills
- High level of interpersonal skills
- Ability to both work independently and as a member of cross-functional teams
- Ability to lead a project from start to finish
- Detail oriented and Data Driven
- High process focus
- Energetic and passionate to find solutions to complex supply chain problems
