Job Summary

Senior Manager Asia Privacy

The role is primarily responsible for supporting the Asia Privacy Office in overseeing privacy compliance across the in-scope Asia operating markets. This includes helping ensure that effective privacy risk management controls and processes are in place to meet regulatory requirements and internal policies while also providing expert guidance to stakeholders.

The role involves close collaboration with the offshore privacy team in the Philippines as well as stakeholders across global regional and local levels this includes teams in privacy compliance HR IT risk procurement testing and others.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the Asia Chief Privacy Office in executing privacy strategies and providing advisory input on privacy risk management across Asia markets.Ensure that privacy controls and processes are effectively implemented to meet regulatory requirements and internal standards.

  • Provide technical guidance and interpret privacy-related policies for market Chief Compliance Officers including those in Life Insurance Wealth Management and other entities ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and company policies.

  • Coordinate privacy control testing activities in collaboration with the testing team and other stakeholders.Contribute to the design of testing methodologies definition of scope and identification of areas for improvement.

  • Partner with stakeholders across the region to support the governance and execution of the Asia Privacy Program.Responsibilities include maintaining regional privacy guidelines preparing management reports delivering privacy advisory and training programs tracking privacy-related issues and corrective actions and conducting periodic self-assessments.

  • Provide guidance on incident handling and management processes.Oversee market-level compliance in tracking and resolving privacy incidents ensuring timely resolution in line with established protocols. Collaborate with local and regional teams to assess impact coordinate notifications and contribute to mitigation and root cause analysis efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree

  • At least 5 years working experience (3 years experience in insurance financial institution or audit is preferred)

  • Experience with privacy or security incidents as well as controls risk assessments testing or issue management

  • Knowledge of technology data analytics dashboards or Archer

  • Good knowledge of or ability to quickly learn and apply Manulife compliance systems (Asia segment investment link regional office processing entity (internal service provider) Asia WAM (small part pension wealth)

  • Strong collaboration and independent contribution skills

  • Strong analytical interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong common sense and creative problem-solving abilities

  • Regional experience/exposure is highly preferred

  • Proficiency in additional Asian languages used in Manulifes markets (e.g. Cantonese Mandarin Vietnamese)
