MalaceHR is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to support the maintenance and operation of critical building systems within a commercial facility. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal performance of mechanical electrical and HVAC systems through preventive maintenance troubleshooting and system monitoring.
Working closely with the Chief Engineer this individual will play a key role in maintaining system reliability improving efficiency and supporting overall building operations. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain HVAC refrigeration electrical heat exchanger emergency backup and hot water systems to ensure optimal performance
- Troubleshoot system issues identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all building and critical systems with minimal disruption to operations
- Install and repair plumbing piping tubing systems and assist with wiring single and three-phase motors (under appropriate supervision)
- Rebuild pumps and heat exchangers; replace motor bearings seals valves filters and related components
- Accurately document all maintenance activities including labor materials and system updates within work order systems
- Analyze system performance data and collaborate with the Chief Engineer on recommendations for repairs upgrades or replacements
- Maintain up-to-date system documentation and ensure compliance with all operational procedures
- Assist with cross-training team members and support other technicians with major repairs as needed
- Adhere to all safety standards including OSHA regulations and proper handling of hazardous materials
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of trade school or equivalent technical training
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working with mechanical/HVAC systems in commercial or industrial environments
- EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems electrical systems and building maintenance practices
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools work on ladders and lift heavy equipment
- Comfortable working on rooftops and in varying environmental conditions
- Solid understanding of OSHA standards and local building codes
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively
