Introduction
THIS IS A NEW ASSEMBLED EXAMINATION.The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year but can be extended.
SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE:A properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each application. Failure to submit the Application or Supplemental Questionnaire will resultin disqualification.

DESCRIPTION
THE POSITION
Under general supervision to perform the work of a journey-level painter on the interior and exterior of County structures and to do related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
License:
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operators license.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
The most suitably qualified candidates will possess the following competencies:
Knowledge of:
- Practices materials tools and equipment used in the painting trade including the preparation of surfaces the application of paints and paint products the use and care of brushes and equipment and the mixing and matching of paint products.
- Safety procedures.
- Staging equipment.
- Hazardous materials awareness (asbestos lead paint MSDS etc.).
- Basic computer skills including knowledge of Outlook.
- Use and maintain a variety of brushes sprayers tools and equipment of the painting trade.
- Harmonize mix and match colors.
- Hang paper or vinyl.
- Assemble and stage equipment including ladders scaffolding and swing stages.
- Direct lead and/or instruct non-journey level workers.
- Follow general and detailed verbal and written instructions.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relations with employees and the general public.
- Plan organize prioritize and keep track of assignments and materials.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other trades.
- Follow safety and security procedures.
- Communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
EXAMINATION COMPONENTS
THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
- A review of applicants applications and supplemental questionnaire responses to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process.
- A performance test which will be weighted as 100% of the candidates final examination score.
CANDIDATES MUST ATTAIN A QUALIFYING RATING ON EACH PORTION OF THIS EXAMINATION.
