Job Summary
The Director of Development Major Gifts is responsible for the identification qualification solicitation and stewarding prospects and donors at the major gift level ($100000). Assigned to specific areas of the hospital to cultivate meaningful relationships with clinical partners and work with these teams to engage with patient families and external affiliates to discuss opportunities for philanthropic partnership. Working closely with the Executive Director of Major and Planned Gifts. The role will also be tasked with contributing to Hospital-wide efforts to solicit support for capital projects unrestricted support and other top priorities as they are identified by Foundation leadership.
Job Specific Duties
- Identify cultivate solicit and steward a portfolio of 150 prospects with capacity to make a 6-figure gift meeting annual fundraising goals and expectations.
- Serve as a liaison for fundraising for assigned areas of the hospital partnering closely with hospital leadership and multidisciplinary teams to secure major gifts from families of patients as well as donors inspired by the innovative clinical research and family support initiatives in the respective medical areas.
- Increase philanthropic awareness via physician/nursing/support staff orientations one-on-one medical staff meetings and maintaining a presence in the clinical units.
- Partner with volunteer leadership to attract volunteers and manage volunteer committee(s) comprised of individuals who are willing to give and advocate on behalf of the hospital.
- Develop collaborative relationships within Individual Giving team and across the entire Foundation.
- Provide stewardship in recognition of donor philanthropy.
- Provide timely and accurate updates of major gift activity and fundraising results. Continuous updating of NXT database with actions moves management etc.
- Collaborate with Gift Planning Office in completing gift arrangements which require tax or estate planning.
- Assist in managing special campaigns corporate and foundation support through the foundation available programs. Staff Foundation events as well as outside events for Foundation representation networking etc.
- Develop collaborative relationships within the frontline fundraising team and across the entire Foundation.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration Health Administration or related field
- At least three (3) years of development or fundraising experience
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- At least one (1) year of grateful patient or healthcare-related fundraising experience - preferred.
- Previous experience in 6-figure gifts from individual donors - preferred.
- Broad base of knowledge and skills related to donor cultivation.
- Advanced proficiency with customer relationship management software (Salesforce Donorsforce Raisers Edge).
- Excellent verbal interpersonal and written communications skill.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- A level of professionalism judgment and decisiveness to inspire confidence among prospects and donors.
- Ability to write and speak persuasively.
- Strong relationship building skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to convey complex or technical information in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Exhibit a high level of energy exceptional interpersonal skills and a can-do attitude.
- Ability to travel local and regional as required.
