The Billing Coordinator Cardiology is responsible for ensuring accurate compliant and timely billing coding and charge capture for an outpatient cardiology practice. This role collaborates closely with clinical and administrative staff to review medical documentation resolve billing discrepancies manage denials and optimize revenue integrity while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Review daily billing charges and reports to ensure accuracy and clean claim submission
Balance charges and adjustments; identify and resolve missing duplicate or late charges
Review patient charts (physician documentation orders progress notes) to validate services billed
Assign and review CPT ICD10 modifiers and E/M levels in accordance with payer guidelines
Perform charge entry charge corrections and denial review and resolution
Collaborate with physicians clinical staff and vendors to ensure accurate capture of procedures supplies and implants (if applicable)
Monitor charge lag error trends and productivity standards; escalate recurring issues to leadership
Research payer requirements and remain current on coding and billing updates
Maintain billing logs reconciliation reports and required documentation tools
Ensure confidentiality of patient and financial information and adhere to compliance standards
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree preferred)
3 years of healthcare billing and coding experience preferably in cardiology procedural or surgical services
Strong knowledge of medical billing coding and reimbursement processes
Working knowledge of thirdparty payer rules and compliance requirements
Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and billing systems
Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate problem-solve and manage multiple priorities effectively
Preferred Skills
Outpatient cardiology or specialty practice experience
Experience with charge reconciliation audits and denial management
Familiarity with modifiers and documentation compliance
