Duties and Qualifications:
- Provide and ensure supplemental instruction of eligible students per TBIP guidelines.
- Provide explicit instruction of targeted vocabulary and ensure students are receiving frequent exposure.
- Fully implement English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPs).
- Ability to assess English language proficiency and individualize instruction.
- Trained in Tier I Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD).
- Provide appropriate ELL accommodations for Smarter Balanced Assessment.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement the Common Core State Standards in Reading and Math.
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize data from WIDA DIBELS CBAs etc. to drive instruction and interventions
- Ability to work in partnership with parents staff students and the community to provide student-centered learning.
- Strong skills in teamwork required.
- Commitment to the education profession as evidenced by participation in curriculum development projects district or building-level committees professional organizations and by evidence of continuing education.
- Knowledge of WIDA Assessments K-7 grade level standards Step Up to Writing and Benchmark Advance materials. Experience in teaching these programs is preferred.
- Ability to incorporate technology into the curriculum. Computer/technology experience and competence preferred.
- Experience working with other staff members to accomplish common goals and to develop appropriate instructional strategies. Coaching training preferred.
- Knowledge of positive school-wide discipline.
- Ability to foster an educational environment conducive to the learning and maturation process of assigned students.
- Use necessary and appropriate instructional methods techniques and materials.
- Confer and communicate with students parents or guardians and other staff in an open and positive manner to provide guidance evaluation and encouragement of student achievement.
- Ability to work under pressure to pay attention to detail to concentrate and to follow directions.
- Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students parents staff and program.
- Excellent attendance required.
- Bilingual required.
Qualifications:
- Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate (K-8).
- ELL endorsement required.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Understanding and knowledge of elementary school students.
- Strong skills and background in instructional methods and strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to prescribe appropriate instruction and training; use a variety of teaching materials and strategies; plan and carry out instruction to meet varied needs of students.
- Ability to establish rapport with students colleagues and classified personnel.
- Other instructional duties may be assigned.
