Summary
- The Youth Practitioner (Outreach) is a 2-3-month contract position with a local authority focused on delivering targeted detached and outreach youth work across the borough. This role is crucial in supporting young people aged 1125 to develop socially emotionally and personally through informal education positive engagement and early intervention. The position primarily involves evening work and occasional weekends to effectively engage with the youth community.
Responsibilities
- Deliver regular detached and outreach youth work sessions across the borough.
- Identify engage and build trust with young people in community settings.
- Provide advice guidance and support to young people ensuring access to appropriate local services.
- Plan deliver and evaluate individual and group programs aimed at reducing risk factors such as exploitation gang activity offending and school exclusion.
- Support wider early help initiatives by working alongside family hubs youth centres and partner agencies.
Requirements
Experience
- Experience supporting young people and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience managing challenging behaviour or crisis situations.
- Experience working collaboratively with statutory and voluntary agencies.
- Experience or willingness to undertake street-based outreach work.
Qualifications
- Level 2/3 qualification in Youth and Community Work or willingness to achieve within 12 months.
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 36 hours per week
- The role requires a DBS check.
- Bi-weekly payment schedule
