The Director of Teacher Education Induction is a professional educator responsible for planning coordinating implementing and evaluating the efforts and activities related to increasing the percentage of program candidates completion of their teacher preparation program requirements and TEA teacher certification.
Responsibilities:
Program Candidates & Graduate Support
Establish a professional relationship with clinical teachers teacher residents and recent alumni.
Provide assistance during the application process (e.g. reviewing resumes preparing for interviews and providing general networking guidance).
Support novice teachers in the first three years of teaching by visiting classrooms/schools discussing teachers growth needs and challenges providing assistance with instructional planning and assessment and connecting novice teachers with resources and professionals as needed.
Support all program graduates with resources as available specifically in regards to certification completion.
Program Communication
Maintain social media sites to disseminate information and resources.
Maintain the program website and communication systems to disseminate information resources professional development and network member updates.
Provide professional communications via email phone and in person as appropriate.
Prepare and disseminate program documents (e.g. reports newsletters presentations).
Data Management
Maintain information for program graduates including employment status and contact information.
Maintain records of contact with network members to include frequency and particular needs.
Maintain program operation records.
Network Event
Plan professional development events (coordination with PD presenters publicizing events with network members and partnership schools registration processes facilities coordination).
In collaboration with the Office of Clinical Experiences plan the annual Teacher Fair (coordination with district representatives registration of network members registration processes facilities coordination).
Publicize events on network resources (website newsletters social media).
Program Representation
Communicate with district and campus representatives as appropriate.
In collaboration with the Deans Office and designees plan and coordinate the Jags ROAR and JAGSymposium (coordination with district representatives registration of network members registration processes logistics programming facilities coordination). Support network members.
Maintain professional certification.
Teaching
May teach one teacher education course as determined by the Dean of the College of Education and Human Development.
Additional Duties
Perform other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with K-12 students K-12 faculty administrators university students and university faculty.
Demonstrated strong communication and leadership abilities.
Skills in the observation and mentorship of beginning teachers.
Ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
Ability to effectively develop and deliver professional development.
Strong command of technology to maintain website and social media resources.
Ability to collect analyze and report program data for continued program improvement efforts.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from multiple communities and cultures.
Required Education and Experience:
Masters degree in Education Administration or higher in related field.
Ten (10) years of related experience in Elementary and Secondary teaching.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience in the professional development of teachers.
Leadership experience
Previous work experience in teacher mentorship/preparation and professional development.
