JOB PURPOSE

Job purposePHINIA is currently looking for a dynamic results driven individual to join as an Engineering Support Technician our Aftermarket Remanufacturing Plant in Troy MI.

This person will primarily be responsible for working with engineering teams to develop remanufacturing programs for commercial vehicle Fuel Systems and providing support to the product lines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Production Engineering Quality and Maintenance teams to achieve target output volumes and ensure product quality.
  • Assist and work with Engineers to improve on post-development activities with a focus on process application development part management or operation.
  • Support and execute local development validation and approval as directed by the Engineering lead using Global Technical Requirements and PDP (Product Development Process).
  • Ship and receive Parts to/from Suppliers or Customers
  • Procures samples for test setup testing and customer sample builds.
  • Participate in the Engineering Reviews.
  • Run parts when requested by the Engineers.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing information and trends. Evaluate LTM data daily.
  • Assist maintenance and engineering with equipment downtime issues. When necessary open a ticket on FIXX.
  • Support SOW creation and assist purchase process for new equipment gauges or parts.
  • Update PFD PFMEA and PCP after any change in the process or new product launch.
  • Assure product and process quality and process capabilities using statistical tools such as Minitab or Statgraphics.
  • Support Machine Qualification.
  • Support manufacturing decision-making information by calculating material costs machine pass rate and reviewing production schedules.
  • Walk the Assembly Lines daily evaluate the trendline in the pass rate for each line listen to the operators concerns find opportunities to improve the process.
  • Support the 5S activities in the Eng. Office Eng. Lab Reference Parts Racks and Eng. Parts Rack.
  • Other duties can be added as needed.
  • Assist engineers with a focus on post-development activities like processes application implementation or operation.
  • Work with mechanical engineers to improve on LTM & TPM process.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in a technical support capacity
  • Knowledge of 5S Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodology is a plus
  • Automotive Manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Experience using data collection and analysis programs such as SQL Server and Minitab is highly desired
  • Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery
  • Experience with Dimensional analysis
  • Experience with Vision systems Torque Drivers NI acquisition Hydraulics / Fuel systems Pneumatics
  • Eager and willing to learn and ability to adapt to new challenges
  • Effective hands-on problem-solving ability
  • Strong analytical thinker
