Job Summary

Description

We areseekinga motivated hands-onQuantum LabEngineer to support the build integration and maintenance of neutral atom quantum computing systems. This is an entry-level role ideal for candidates with strong technical fundamentals who are excited to grow in a fast-paced commercial startup environment.

You will work closely with physicists and engineers to assemble andmaintainlaser systems ultra-high vacuum hardware RF systemsanalog and digital electronics and precision opto-mechanical assemblies that power next-generation quantum computers.

Role and responsibilities

  • Diagnosing and repairing analogdigital and RFelectronic circuits
  • Building and modifying opto-mechanical assemblies
  • Assemblingmaintaining and troubleshooting UHV systems
  • Writing andmaintainingPython scripts for laboratory automation data acquisition and experiment control
  • Interfacing laboratory instrumentation via USB Ethernet GPIB or serial communication
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics mechanical drawings and optical layouts
  • Performing precision machiningand using CAD software for mechanical design or modification
  • Conducting systematic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis in complex experimental systems
  • Maintaining detailed technical documentation and lab records


Requirements
  • This position requiresdailyon-site work at our facility in Madison WI
  • Experience with electronics including diagnostic tools PCB design and assembly and soldering
  • Experience with toolsand machining
  • Ability to diagnose complex interdisciplinary system issues involving optics electronics RF and software
  • Ability to followlaboratory safetyand cleanlinessprotocols
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with physicists engineers and software developers
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision and quality
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a team environment
  • Good laboratorynotetaking written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration

It is a plus if you have:

  • Experience with laser systems and optics
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) in 3D preferably in SolidWorks
  • Experience with lab work in a clean environment and handling of sensitive optics
  • Proficiencyin programming with fluency in Python preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work will normally be performed in alaboratory environment and around technical equipment including computers and required Personal Protective Equipment will be provided and must beproperly usedin accordance withcompany requirements.
