JOB GOAL:Seeking 1-2 special education Reading/Phonology teachers to teach during the Summer Extended School Year Program. Teachers will provide direct reading instruction in either a substantially separate program or Learning center. We offer programming services and instruction for grades PK- Post HS. The ESY Program runs from July 6-Aug 6 8:00-12:00 each day. Reading/Phonology teachers must have initial certification and/or experience teaching Wilson and/or Orton Gillingham Reading programs. Strong record of work performance in current and previous roles required. |
Education: Bachelors or higher
Professional Certification: Reading/phonology specialist certification preferred
Specialized Knowledge:
- Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity equity inclusion and social justice as they relate to student staff and community engagement and cultivation
- Education/training in Wilson and/or Orton Gillingham Reading programs
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Google Suite (Drive Docs Sheets Slides Classroom etc.) and PowerSchool preferred but will train the right candidate
- Experience implementing Wilson and/or Orton Gillingham Reading programs
- Experience teaching phonology/reading
Skills:
- Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
- Bilingual skills especially in Spanish and Portuguese are highly desirable Candidates should have a passion for working with students families and colleagues Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
- Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced supportive environment that nurtures student growth
- Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing time-sensitive deadlines for work production
- Candidates must be knowledgeable on or ready to learn specialized reading programs
- Candidates must be engaging in their implementation of reading/phonology instruction

Works with district and school leadership to combat systemic barriers that limit student family and staff members equitable access to opportunity
- Identifies and addresses bias and its impact on rigor and opportunity for students and staff
- Updates policies and equitable access procedures
- Design engaging phonology lessons for children on your caseload
- Carry out reading instruction and take data to address predetermined phonology goals in order to prevent regression

- Communicate with others so that information received and given is understood and accurately communicated;
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with students parents and other staff members in person via video conference on the telephone and/or in writing;
- Observe details at close range
- In the school setting ensure the safety of students;
- Multitask and meet multiple demands from several people;
- Lifting up to and including 25 lbs
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
