Position Summary
The Quality Engineer is part of the Manufacturing Process and Quality team and provides technical quality support across operations. This role partners with production DC operations and supply chain to ensure that in-process material and finished product meet internal requirements customer specifications and applicable quality standards prior to release. The Quality Engineer leads technical problem solving supports inspection and control plans and drives corrective actions to prevent quality escapes within the Rosenberg Plant and Distribution Center operations.

The Candidate will ensure that key direction and decisions are rooted in our most basic operational demand that Data is the Source of Truth. The candidate will promote the WireCo Business System throughout the Rosenberg manufacturing and DC facilities and support Engineering Quality and Compliance tasks associated with reaching our 5-Year Strategic Growth Plan.
Essential Functions
- Support and maintain the Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001 and applicable API standards ensuring processes documentation and controls align with API specification and certification requirements.
- Provide technical quality engineering support for wire manufacturing operations and OEM structures and assembly operations.
- Lead and support root cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent quality escapes.
- Ensure in-process and finished products meet internal requirements customer specifications and applicable quality standards prior to release.
- Interpret and apply engineering drawings specifications and customer quality requirements.
- Support risk-based quality decisions that protect the customer and the business.
- Communicate effectively with production DC operations supply chain and leadership.
- Travel between sites as required to support quality activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with all levels of management and cross-functional teams to support quality activities projects and investigations.
- Support Engineering and Production to ensure effective transition of products from design to production.
- Develop review and maintain internal specifications work instructions inspection criteria control plans supplier part specifications and internal test methods.
- Investigate document and support closure of nonconformances including verification of corrective action effectiveness.
- Support risk-based disposition decisions including rework scrap reclassification and use-as-is.
- Partner with manufacturing and DC operations to identify assess and mitigate quality risks.
- Support supplier quality investigations and corrective actions in coordination with Supply Chain.
- Analyze quality data and trends to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
- Support PFMEAs risk assessments and other process improvement activities.
- Participate in internal customer and third-party audits as required.
- Maintain accurate and complete quality documentation and records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with business and quality objectives.
Qualifications :
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering Engineering Technology Quality or a related field or 5-8 years of professional experience performing quality engineering root cause analysis and process improvement in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Quality Engineer or similar role.
- Experience supporting manufacturing environments.
- Strong experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems and/or API.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with employees ranging from the production floor to executive management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and react to changing and heightened priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience supporting wire manufacturing metals or related industrial processes.
- Experience with OEM structures and assembly operations.
- Supplier quality management experience.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations.
- Familiarity with PFMEA control plans and risk-based quality tools.
- Experience supporting customer or regulatory audit.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Combination office/production floor environment
- Ability to sit stand walk for extended periods of time
- Pushing/pulling lifting up to 50 lbs.
Equipment and/or Materials Used
- Standard office equipment including computer mouse keyboard telephone multifunction copier
- Required to properly use personal protective equipment including safety glasses hearing protection gloves and steel-toed safety shoes when on the production floor
- Quality measurement and inspection tools as required.
- Testing and measurement equipment associated with wire manufacturing.
- Company software systems for quality documentation reporting and data analysis.
