As a Job Coach youll play a crucial role in supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) in their career journeys. Job Coaches provide on-site mentorship in the workplace providing personalized one-on-one assistance tailored to each clients needs. As a Job Coach you will be working with individuals on goals and skills to help them become not only more successful and independent at their jobs but in their lives.
**This is a part-time position between 20-30 hours per week**
What Youll Get To Do:
- Provide one-on-one training and education to caseload of individuals you support in their workplace; teach clients how to complete job tasks.
- Offer prompts cues and support to encourage skill development and independence.
- Monitor and report progress challenges and work performance.
- Help the individual set and achieve goals; assist in overcoming personal barriers.
- Help clients communicate with employers and co-workers in the workplace.
- Help develop positive social work and life skills.
- Communicate with clients to understand their interests skills abilities goals and support needs.
- Provide job search assistance and interview preparation if needed.
- Assess and develop resumes based on skills and strengths if needed.
- Ensure safety is always maintained in the work environment.
- Demonstrate positive work habits and practices
- Assist with personal cares and mobility support as needed
- Create lasting positive impacts on peoples lives through coaching mentoring and encouraging others to reach their employment goals.
Qualifications :
What Makes you a Great Fit:
- 6 months of prior experience working as Job Coach OR 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is required
Other requirements;
- This is a driving position. In addition to travel between shift sites this position requires transportation of individuals in staffs personal vehicle to various employment sites within the Portland metro community. All mileage accrued while on shift is reimbursed. Valid drivers license access to reliable transportation and acceptable driving record required.
- Must have availability to work day and evening shifts
- Must be available weekends
- Computer skills including MS Office email and basic data entry.
- Genuine passion for supporting others and a strong sense of advocacy.
- A flexible motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Good communication is key in this role. Youll rely on your reading writing and communication skills to document care follow support plans and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
- Must be able to attend two weeks of paid in-house training
Candidates will be required to meet all Oregon State Department of Human Services requirements
