Job Summary

What success looks like in this role:

The Senior Network Engineer at Unisys is a senior technical role responsible for implementing and supporting endtoend network and security solutions. The position requires deep expertise in infrastructure automation through scripting (Python Perl) and SME proficiency in technologies such as F5 Load Balancer Palo Alto Firewalls or Cisco Networking. The engineer will provide Tier 2/3 support partner with architects engage with clients and thirdparty suppliers and ensure resilient secure and welldocumented network operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Senior technical role supporting the Unisys Cloud and Infrastructure Team and client Account Team by having a deep understanding of network and security infrastructure. The role includes implementation and support of an end to end solutions and management of stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met.

  • Highly focused on automation and have prior experience of scripting e.g. Python and Pearl.

  • In this role it is expected that the Network and Security Specialist will build and foster relationships across all Unisys support towers and with clients. Further they will need to engage with third party suppliers to ensure integration across all supported and integrated networks. The goal is to become an expert on all underlining networks and security Infrastructure enforcement technologies.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in network and security.

  • Understanding of network security architectures topologies and security services and protocols (e.g. Proxy IPS firewalls load balancers WAF VPNs NTP DNS etc.)

  • SME across at least one of the three key technologies: -F5 Load balance and supported module such as ASM -Palo Alto Firewalls -Cisco Networking LAN and SDWAN

  • Provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 support and assists with some project implementation within the networking environment.

  • Partner with the architects (Infrastructure/Solution) to implement a solution that meets all business and technical requirements.

  • Perform build upgrades and troubleshooting of network and network security devices and software.

  • Ensures proper documentation for the corporate knowledgebase including design procedural and lessons learned. This also includes maintaining and updating existing documentation.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • University degree or equivalent education and experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years domain experience.

  • Supervise and mentor the network operations team fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.

  • Oversee the continuous monitoring of network performance and health ensuring optimal uptime and efficiency.

  • Lead incident response efforts escalations coordinating with team members to troubleshoot and resolve network issues promptly.

  • Manage and implement network changes ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to best practices.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations policies and procedures for knowledge sharing and compliance.

  • Analyze network capacity and performance trends to recommend upgrades and enhancements.

  • Ensure network security protocols are enforced and monitor for vulnerabilities or breaches.

  • Liaise with other IT teams and stakeholders to align network operations with organizational goals.

  • Identify skill gaps and provide training opportunities for team members to enhance their expertise.

  • Prepare regular reports on network performance incidents and team activities for management review.

  • Assist in budget planning and management for network operations optimizing resource allocation.

  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve issues and negotiate contracts as necessary.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices implementing improvements to processes and technologies.

  • Has achieved industry standard certifications e.g.: Security CCNP CCNA Network MCSA.

  • Excellent documentation skills are required.

  • Good Handson and design experience on CISCO ACI is a must
