Job Description Summary
The Adjunct Puente Counselor provides comprehensive academic career transfer and personal counseling services in alignment with the mission of the College the Counseling Department the Puente Project and Student Equity & Achievement objectives. The counselor supports students in achieving their educational goals through culturally responsive student-centered practices grounded in equity access and transfer success. This assignment reflects the Colleges commitment to advancing equitable student outcomes and strengthening transfer pathways through the Puente Program. The Adjunct Puente Counselor plays a critical role in supporting students academic achievement leadership development and successful transfer to four-year institutions.

Desirable Qualifications
Prior training and certification through the Puente Summer Training Institute or eligibility and commitment to complete Puente training as required. Recent counseling experience in a California Community College preferably working with Puente learning communities or other programs serving disproportionately impacted students. Demonstrated experience implementing equity-minded culturally sustaining counseling practices that promote transfer and baccalaureate attainment for Chicanx/Latinx and other historically underrepresented students. Experience in program coordination (e.g. recruitment mentor programs events data tracking and reporting for categorical or special programs). Familiarity with the mission structure and goals of the Puente Project and with transfer pathways to CSU UC and private universities. Bilingual/bicultural skills especially Spanish/English in support of Puentes focus on serving Chicanx/Latinx and first-generation students. Evidence of successful collaboration with instructional faculty to support learning communities linked courses or integrated academic/counseling efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Possession of a masters degree in counseling rehabilitation counseling clinical psychology counseling psychology guidance counseling educational counseling social work career development marriage and family therapy or marriage family and child counseling; OR the equivalent as defined by the District and Title 5 regulations 2. Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of California community college students.
