About the role

In this high-profile business facing role you will partner closely with People Corporate Affairs & Community (CAC) leadership teams initially expanding to broader domains and senior technology stakeholders providing clear architectural direction and trusted leadership. Your focus will be on ensuring technology investments are maximised aligned to Westpacs vision and enable meaningful sustainable outcomes with a significant focus on Data & AI.

Importantly this is a peopleled handson leadership role and you will lead a team responsible for developing maintaining and communicating highlevel investment plans across the IT landscapeshaping an architecture strategy that enables transformation modernisation and innovation at scale.

The Solution Architecture function within Westpac Solutions plays a critical role in translating Enterprise Architecture strategy into practical highimpact solutions. This role ensures solution architectures align to established roadmaps while adhering to enterprise architecture principles.

Key responsibilities

Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across People and Corporate Affairs & Community (CAC) (initially) and across the wider technology community

Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and industry trends with a significant focus on Data & AI

Develop maintain and communicate domain execution roadmaps aligned to Westpacs technology strategy

Drive simplification modernisation and technical debt reduction across systems in line with the progressive modernisation strategy

Provide architecture governance and assurance through standards principles reference designs and design reviews

Support business requests that inform technology investment decisions and roadmap reviews including Architecture Impact Assessments and pre-project budget guidance

Lead the discovery evaluation and selection of technology solutions including experimentation and exploration of Data & AI initiatives

Develop solution architectures artefacts patterns and designs that meet strategy security compliance and risk requirements

Uplift capability across the GBU Architecture portfolio to deliver and scale Data & AI priorities through coaching patterns and reusable approaches

Lead and develop a team of solution architects through coaching development planning performance reviews and career growth

Essential requirements

Significant senior solution architecture expertise with demonstrated leadership experience gained within a large complex organisation

Strong experience working with established architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF or equivalent)

Advanced stakeholder management and influencing capability underpinned by strategic thinking and systemslevel problem solving

Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences

A pragmatic outcomesfocused approach to decisionmaking balancing risk cost and value through collaboration

Senior engineering and solution architecture experience across corporate domains with Data & AI

Additional AIspecific experience and skills:

Demonstrated experiencearchitecting and implementing Data & AIenabled solutions in enterprise environments moving beyond proofofconcept into scalable productiongrade delivery

Strong understanding of Data & AI software platforms frameworks and tooling such as machine learning platforms GenAI services MLOps pipelines model lifecycle management and integration patterns

Proven experience designingbestpractice Data & AI architectures including data pipelines model deployment patterns observability security governance and ethical AI considerations

Handson experience guiding teams throughData & AI solution design implementation tradeoffs and integration into existing enterprise platforms

Strong awareness of Data & AI risk compliance privacy and security requirements and the ability to embed these into architecture standards and reference designs

Experience uplifting team capability inData & AI engineering architecture patterns and modern delivery practices ensuring sustainable longterm capability
