About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Childrens Disability Team as a Disabled Childrens Support Worker providing direct practical and personalised support to disabled children young people and their families. You will contribute to the assessment process and work flexibly across the service to promote inclusion independence and opportunity.

You will take responsibility for a caseload of children open to Children in Need ensuring timely interventions recording work to a high standard and recognising when to escalate concerns to a qualified Social Worker particularly where there may be safeguarding implications.


As part of a multiagency environment you will build positive relationships with colleagues partner organisations and families helping to ensure joinedup support. You will also participate in supervision undertake learning and development opportunities and contribute to a proactive problemsolving team culture.

About You


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of supporting and working with children with diagnosed disabilities
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment (paid or voluntary).
  • Knowledge of child development and an understanding of childrens needs as they grow.
  • Understanding of strengthsbased personcentred approaches.
  • Basic knowledge of services provided by Childrens Services and the City Council.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to work effectively with children families and partner professionals to achieve good outcomes.
  • A cando approach that builds confidence in children and families.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to maintain calm clear thinking under pressure.
  • Ability to use Windowsbased IT systems and prepare case records and reports.
