Work Schedule/FLSA Status: 12-month 261 days/Non-Exempt40 hr work week 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Salary Schedule: Salary Grade 36B starts at $20.06
Position Purpose: The role of this staff member is to oversee the school districts archive materials and support teachers and staff across the person will assist staff with checking out instructional resource materials; serve as a backup on the Omaha Public Schools PBX telephone system; and efficiently answer screen and route incoming calls.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Curator of Omaha Public School archives.
- Provides backup support to PBX Operator as needed.
- Provides backup support to the MTC Production Room.
- Works closely with Curriculum Instruction Support supervisors to select and procure instructional resources for checkout.
- Checks out and collects Media Center materials to/from staff across the district.
- Assists in the support and checkout of AV materials including computers sound systems and components.
- Assists with IMS surplus processes as needed
- Provides general information as requested and responds to general questions.
- Performs general office duties including filing and sorting.
- Serves as backup to other Media Technology Center (MTC) staff as needed and assigned.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Equipment: This position may require the ability to use assistive technology in addition to basic office equipment such as computers copiers and scanners. Must always comply with OPSs guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Travel is not required.

- For schools to operate effectively employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours on each designated workday unless the employee has approved leave.
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employees supervisor or building administrator.
- All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Omaha Public Schools and is appropriate for their position.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- A high school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) certificate is required.
- Knowledge and ability to provide exceptional telephone and face-to-face customer service to the public and peers using tact and courtesy.
- Ability to speak read and write proficiently in English. (Bilingual skills preferred).
- Knowledge and ability to operate a PBX workstation.
- Knowledge and experience using an automated library checkout system.
- Knowledge and experience in maintaining files and recordkeeping.
- Experience setting up and using various A/V equipment including laptops projectors and sound systems.
- A working knowledge of the organizations procedures policies principles and practices is preferred.
- Ability to perform the work within schedules and deadlines assigned and in keeping with department standards and productivity goals.
- Demonstrated technology skills with Microsoft Office 365 and other job-related databases.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively problem solve.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality protocol at all times.
- A strong willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills using initiative as required by the technical challenges in this environment.

Terms of Employment
This position is treated as a classified full-time non-exempt position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies as those laws and policies may change from time to time.
