Job Summary

Vall dHebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public sector institution located in Barcelona (Spain) that promotes and undertakes innovative biomedical research at the University Hospital Vall dHebron. VHIR is seeking an experienced Laboratory & Quality Manager within the Rheumatology Research Group.

Main responsibilities and duties:
  • Coordinate and supervise the daily operations of the laboratory ensuring efficient and compliant management of biological samples.

  • Guarantee the correct functioning of all laboratory processes within the framework of the established Quality Management System.

  • Oversee the implementation monitoring and continuous improvement of quality procedures documentation and internal audits.

  • Prepare technical reports operational records and documentation required for certifications inspections and internal and external audits.

  • Manage external communication with researchers institutions and stakeholders regarding laboratory services and procedures.

  • Collaborate in the drafting and preparation of research project proposals and related scientific documentation.

  • Act as liaison with the Research Ethics Committee coordinating submissions followup and communication related to ethical approvals.

  • Supervise and coordinate logistics related to biological national and international sample transport documentation biosafety compliance.

  • Ensure and maintain strong fluid and constructive relationships with clinical collaborators.

  • Coordinate laboratory personnel fostering a positive and efficient working environment.

Education and qualifications:
Required:
  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences Biotechnology Life Sciences or a related field

  • Advanced training in quality management systems biobanking or research governance will be considered an asset

  • Strong command of written and spoken English Catalan and Spanish

Experience and knowledge:
Required:
  • Minimum of 18 years of professional experience in biomedical research and biobanking.

  • Proven experience in the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems within a biomedical research environment.

  • Solid understanding of ethical and regulatory frameworks governing biomedical research and biobanking.

  • Proven experience interacting with Research Ethics Committees (CEIm) or equivalent bodies.

  • Experience preparing scientific documentation reports and research project proposals.

Labour conditions:

  • Full-time: 37.5 hours per week

  • Starting date: April 2026

  • Gross annual salary: 65.00000

  • Contract type: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to project activities
