Job Summary

A high-achieving and Ofsted Outstanding secondary school in Reading is seeking an exceptional and ambitious Head of Physics to lead its successful Physics department from April. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Physics to take on a key leadership role within a school known for its academic excellence outstanding behaviour and strong results in Science.

The successful Head of Physics will teach Physics across KS3KS5 while leading and developing the subject to ensure consistently high standards of teaching and student achievement.

The Role

The school is looking for an inspiring and knowledgeable Head of Physics who can provide strong leadership while maintaining excellent classroom practice.

Responsibilities of the Head of Physics include:

  • Leading and developing Physics across KS3KS5

  • Teaching engaging and challenging Physics lessons up to A-Level

  • Driving curriculum development and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning

  • Monitoring student progress and implementing strategies to raise attainment

  • Supporting and mentoring colleagues within the Science department

  • Contributing to whole-school leadership and strategic initiatives
