Details of the role

The BRIDGE program is a consortium of not-for-profit organisations led by the Kirby Institute designing and conducting specific clinical development programs for RNA therapeutics that are at least TRL3 and which have an unmet clinical need with potentially viable markets in the area of infection inflammation and oncology. BRIDGE will conduct studies that support the development of a dossier for submission to the appropriate regulatory such as the TGA or the FDA.

The Research Officer will support the BRIDGE program through a combination of research operational and administrative activities. The role involves contributing to the development and maintenance of study protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) supporting preclinical research activities including data handling and quality checks and assisting with general laboratory and project coordination tasks. The position will work closely with the research and program teams to ensure studies are conducted rigorously documentation is accurate and up to date and program activities are delivered efficiently in accordance with regulatory ethical and institutional requirements.

The role of Research Officer reports to Senior Project Manager - BRIDGE and has no direct reports.

Some key skills required:

• Tertiary qualification in biomedical science life sciences pharmacology biotechnology or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience supporting laboratory or preclinical research activities with the ability to follow established protocols and procedures accurately.
• Experience drafting reviewing or working in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) protocols and related research documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate complete and well-organised records in line with SOPs and project requirements.
• Familiarity with research compliance requirements including ethics governance and safety frameworks and the ability to work within these systems.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks prioritise effectively and meet timelines in a research environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document procedures clearly and liaise with researchers and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently exercise sound judgment and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic program environment.
