Registered Nurse (RN) Behavioral Health (Adult Psychiatry)
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Behavioral Health to provide high-quality patient-centered care in an acute adult psychiatric setting. This role involves coordinating and delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients with behavioral health conditions while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to patients with behavioral health needs in an acute care setting
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
- Monitor patient status and document care using electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Participate in patient and family education to support treatment plans and recovery
- Respond effectively to crisis situations using appropriate de-escalation techniques
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (State of Hawaii required prior to start date)
- Minimum of 2 years of recent behavioral health nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Crisis prevention training such as NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) or equivalent required
- Experience with EMR systems (e.g. Meditech or Epic preferred)
- Rotating 8- or 12-hour shifts (including nights)
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays
- No floating to other departments
- Unit capacity: 12 beds
- Care delivery model: Team-based nursing
- Professional clean attire required
- Structured orientation program with assigned mentor
- Pre-employment requirements include arrival prior to assignment for onboarding and employee health clearance
