Director of Veterinary Nursing
About the Role:
As the Specialty Nursing Director you will be a key member of the hospital s leadership team responsible for overseeing all specialty nursing departments. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight ensuring alignment across teams and consistent delivery of high-quality patient care.
You will work closely with the Emergency Nursing Director Medical Directors and administrative leadership to drive collaboration improve workflows and strengthen overall hospital performance. Your leadership will directly impact team engagement clinical excellence and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities & Impact:

Lead mentor and inspire all specialty nursing staff. Oversee hiring scheduling and performance management while fostering a positive engaged and accountable team culture. - Operational Excellence Driver
Identify opportunities to improve workflows standardize clinical procedures and enhance efficiency across all specialty departments while maintaining the highest standards of care. - Interdepartmental Connector
Collaborate closely with emergency services leadership to ensure smooth patient transitions shared staffing support and a unified approach to patient care. - Safety & Resource Champion
Ensure teams are equipped with the tools and resources they need while maintaining strict compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards. - Next-Generation Leader
Develop future leaders by facilitating quarterly leadership training for team leads and coordinating ongoing continuing education initiatives for nursing staff.
Requirements:
- LVT/RVT/CVT licensure or equivalent clinical experience required
- Minimum 5 years of veterinary or specialty practice experience
- At least 2 years in a leadership role (Manager Supervisor Director etc.)
- Demonstrated leadership communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Strong organizational and operational management abilities
- Ability to lead by example and influence cross-functional teams
- Experience with hospital software systems (e.g. Vetradar EzyVet) is highly preferred
