About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled HVAC Facilities Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance repair and operation of a variety of HVAC systems across a large campus with multiple buildings. This includes chillers boilers air handlers condensing units cooling towers and process refrigeration equipment. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and hands-on experience with these systems building automation and controls strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Essential Functions:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on commercial HVAC systems including chillers boilers air handlers rooftop units condensing units and process refrigeration systems.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various HVAC systems and components.
- Conduct inspections and ensure all HVAC systems are operating efficiently and in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Respond to emergency HVAC service requests and provide timely and effective solutions.
- Monitor/adjust/program HVAC controls to optimize performance and energy efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities and implementation of preventive maintenance program for all HVAC/Refrigeration equipment.
- Collaborate with other facilities staff and departments to coordinate HVAC-related projects and activities.
- Receive technical guidance and support from senior technicians and other team members.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest HVAC technologies and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications (one of the following):
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience
- 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Apprentice license or HVAC certification required.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair with a focus on large commercial or institutional facilities.
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems including chillers boilers air handlers condensing units cooling towers and process refrigeration equipment.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC control systems and building automation systems.
- Automation programming skills (Scheider Electric controls Automated Logic Controls)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical manuals.
- Experience working with R22 410A R134A R32 R404.
- Data center / critical cooling operations
- EPA Universal Certification
- RMGA certified
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid drivers license.
Work Environment:
- This position requires working both indoors and outdoors sometimes in extreme temperatures.
- The role may involve standing walking and climbing ladders for extended periods.
- Must be available for on-call duty and respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
