Job Summary

Job Title: Accounting Manager Credit Union (Direct Hire)

Location: Sugar Land TX 77478

Salary: $75000 annually
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) Standard business hours
Reporting To: Controller
Department: Accounting & Wire Operations

Role Overview

This position leads both the accounting function and wire transfer operations within a credit union. The role focuses on ensuring accurate financial reporting strong internal controls regulatory compliance and secure processing of domestic and international wire transactions. Youll also manage a team and play a key role in improving processes and supporting overall financial health.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management

Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger reconciliations accruals and month-end close
Prepare and review financial statements in line with GAAP
Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements (including Call Reports)
Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
Support audits (internal/external) and regulatory examinations
Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
Provide financial insights and reports to leadership

Team Leadership

Manage train and mentor accounting staff
Oversee team performance and workflow

Wire Transfer Operations

Supervise domestic and international wire transfer processes
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (fraud prevention AML etc.)
Review high-value or complex transactions
Implement controls to ensure secure accurate and timely transfers
Partner with compliance and operations teams to reduce risk

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
5 years of accounting experience (preferably in financial institutions)
2 years of team leadership or supervisory experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
Advanced Excel skills
Experience with accounting systems or financial software

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in credit unions or banking environment
Knowledge of wire transfer systems and fraud prevention
Familiarity with regulatory reporting (Call Reports)
