Job Summary
We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to serve as Engineering Manager and lead the Mechanical Engineering Department. This role is responsible for overseeing technical accuracy project execution and team development across complex mechanical construction projects. The Engineering Manager will manage full lifecycle design and implementation of HVAC piping and plumbing systems while supervising engineering staff and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in construction engineering mechanical systems design and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Department Management
- Lead and manage the mechanical engineering department ensuring quality accuracy and performance standards
- Supervise mentor and develop engineering staff including conducting performance evaluations
- Establish and maintain engineering standards processes and best practices
- Coordinate weekly staffing schedules and project assignments with project managers
Project Oversight & Technical Execution
- Oversee full design lifecycle from conceptual design through post-construction review
- Direct mechanical system design including HVAC piping and industrial plumbing systems
- Review and approve engineering drawings calculations and specifications
- Prepare high-level designs detailed engineering plans and presentation layouts
- Manage multiple concurrent projects with varying scopes and complexity
- Ensure projects meet timeline budget and regulatory requirements
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as primary technical liaison for clients consultants vendors and strategic partners
- Lead design coordination meetings pre-construction planning sessions and post-construction reviews
- Translate complex engineering concepts into clear client-facing communication
Technical Tools & Compliance
- Utilize Navisworks Revit and AutoCAD for design review and coordination
- Oversee preparation and submission of technical documentation and regulatory filings
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal building codes and engineering standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Construction Engineering or related field
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) License (Required)
- 7 years of experience in mechanical or construction engineering
- 5 years of supervisory or engineering management experience
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems piping design and industrial plumbing
- Proficiency in Navisworks Revit and AutoCAD
- Demonstrated ability to manage full design lifecycle and multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong leadership team development and performance management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid drivers license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
