Role Overview:
Shape your futurewith a dynamic internship experience at New York Life. Your internship journey is designed to challenge you through hands-on work experience that will equip you with valuable skills you can use anywhere. This internship provides an opportunity for interns to gain insight into our Group Benefit Solutions department and New York Lifes business values and experience a corporate environment while collaborating on project work across the organization and participate in professional development activities to further their skills.
The internship will start as early as May is a part-time internship that requires a minimum of 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during the summer.
Location: Our Pittsburgh office is in the Strip District with free parking! Summer housing will not be provided. Interns are able to work remotely or hybrid in office on Wednesdays.
What Youll Do:
As a Group Benefit Solutions (GBS) Claims intern you will work in our Life Insurance department to support specialists in the day to day claim investigation process.
Life Insurance: The Intern will work in our Life Insurance department to support Life Specialists in the day to day claims investigation primary duties of the role will include loading claims sending general correspondences as needed conducting phone calls as well as various other claims related projects. (Business majors a plus)
What Youll Bring:
A customer service mindset with the ability to work well with people in a teamoriented workplace setting.
Preferred Skills:
- College undergraduate actively pursuing a Bachelors Degree with an expected graduation date of 2027 or 2028.
- Able to work 40 hours per week during the summer and minimum of 15 hours per week is required during the academic year.
- Effective team player with collaborative skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Preferred background in customer service including proficiency in phone communication
- Knowledge of life insurance industry preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as: Word Excel Outlook
