An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Security Systems team as an administrator.

As a security systems administrator your role will be to undertake a range of clerical and administrative duties to support the Security Systems Office. You will update and maintain alarm records to make certain of their accuracy and compliance with of the National and Essex Police Policy. You will be responsible for issuing invoices and ensuring payment is received. you will also maintain and update the Essex Police System for Task and Operational Resource Management (STORM) Command and Control system by ensuring all key location comments newly identified addresses and staffing changes are accurately recorded and kept current.

You will be comfortable to work within a small friendly team. You must be methodical and accurate in your work as you will be inputting and verifying a vast amount of critically important data. You must comply with and enforce Security Systems policy and Data Protection laws so you will be expected to learn these and keep up to date with any changes.

The role involves using a range of computer programmes which will be new to you; therefore you will need the ability to learn these systems but dont worry you will be given one to one support in doing so. Within the first few months you will be expected to attend a three day nationally run Security Systems Administrator course which will be fully funded including travel and accommodation so you must be comfortable to travel alone and spend time away from home.

Applications are to provide evidence of:

  • Your previous work background with a particular focus on managing a workload prioritisation data accuracy and data security.
  • Evidence of customer service skills including managing complaints.
  • Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels because you will be required to provide advice and guidance to industry experts members of the public and policing colleagues of all ranks.
  • Your experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Excel Word and Outlook. Explaining your ability to learn and use new computer systems programmes and processes.

The Security Systems Department is located on the Essex Police Headquarters site in Springfield Chelmsford. This role is office based agile working which will allow the opportunity for some working from home once sufficient training has been given. Working hours are 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday but there is scope for some flexibility around start and finish times. No weekend or Bank Holiday working is required. There is parking available at the Headquarters site including disabled parking.
