About the Team
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Manager to lead our AI Platform team. The AI teams purpose is to make Airwallex an AI-driven company by leveraging cutting-edge AI and machine learning technologies to drive innovation improve operational efficiency and enhance customer experience.
What youll do
Strategy & Vision: Develop and execute the strategy for the AI team aligning the technical direction and roadmap with Airwallexs business objectives. Stay at the forefront of industry trends to ensure we remain leaders in AI innovation.
Team Leadership: Build mentor and lead a high-performing team of software engineers and AI specialists. Foster a culture of collaboration creativity and technical excellence while setting clear goals managing performance and developing career paths.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner closely with Product Design and Operations to define the roadmap prioritize a measurable backlog and deliver high-impact AI solutions. Work with key stakeholders to understand business challenges and identify opportunities where AI can add significant value.
Technical Ownership: Serve as the accountable owner for the architecture and system quality across our AI services. Provide deep technical guidance on model development deployment and maintenance ensuring our solutions are scalable reliable and secure.
Hands-On Guidance: Remain hands-on where it matters most. Guide architectural designs review critical models and APIs and de-risk complex initiatives with pragmatic technical deep dives.
LLMOps & Best Practices: Champion best practices for the entire AI lifecycle including Prompt-tuning Context Engineering Fine-tuning Annotations and human-in-the-loop feedback. Drive a culture of continuous learning and process improvement.
Operational Excellence: Own the operational health of our production AI systems including on-call readiness model monitoring incident response postmortems and continuous reliability improvements.
Talent Strategy: Lead the talent strategy for your organization. Recruit onboard and develop top-tier engineers and managers building a diverse team and robust succession plans for sustained velocity.
Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively communicate progress insights and the business impact of AI initiatives to executive leadership and other stakeholders across the company.
What You Need to Have:
Were looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have but are not mandatory.
Minimum qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering Data Science or a related field. Advanced degrees would be an advantage.
Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering or AI/ML development with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing high-performing teams.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
Strong understanding of AI/ML frameworks and libraries ().
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g. Docker Kubernetes).
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to build lead and inspire a diverse team with a strong focus on delivering business-driven outcomes.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex business problems and propose effective technical solutions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Innovation Mindset: Passionate about AI and technology with a keen interest in staying updated on the latest trends and advancements in the field
