Position Summary
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for the clinical oversight coordination and evaluation of nutrition care servicesfor patients within a correctional healthcare setting. This role supports the promotion of health management of chronic conditions and compliance with all applicable clinical and regulatory standards.
The Dietitian works collaboratively with medical nursing and food service teamsto ensure patients receive appropriate evidence-based nutritional care across a medically complex population.

QualificationsKey Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessmentsand develop individualized care plans
- Provide medical nutrition therapyfor chronic and acute conditions (e.g. diabetes renal disease hypertension)
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as clinically indicated
- Collaborate with providers and nursing staff to ensure appropriate diet orders and therapeutic diets
- Review and approve special diet requests and modifications
- Provide nutrition educationto patients and healthcare staff
- Partner with food service operations to ensure compliance with prescribed diets and nutritional standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives audits and compliance activities
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Support regulatory readiness (ACA NCCHC OHS)and internal audit processes
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Nutrition Dietetics or related field from an accredited program (Masters preferred)
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia (LD)
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experiencein hospital long-term care or similar setting
- Correctional healthcare experience preferred
Additional Requirements
- Current CPR certification
- Current tuberculosis screening in accordance with company policy
- Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain security clearance
Available Shift: 2 Days per week between the hours of 8am-5pm No Weekends

- Primary work location: Augusta State Medical Prison (ASMP) Augusta GA
- Travel requiredas needed to:
- Regional office in Stockbridge GA
- Other Georgia Department of Corrections facilities to support clinical operations training and compliance initiatives
