Job Description
The University of WisconsinMilwaukee is seeking a strategic and collaborative Communications and Outreach Specialist to lead communication change management and engagement efforts supporting IT services and initiatives across campus. Reporting to the Director of IT Professional Services this role translates complex technical information into clear accessible messaging while building strong partnerships and advancing awareness of UWM IT resources.
Develop and execute communication and change management plans for IT services projects and enhancements
Collaborate with IT teams and campus partners to ensure timely accurate and effective messaging
Create and manage content for web email social media print and campus news channels
Translate complex technical concepts into clear audience-focused communications
Maintain and audit website content; ensure alignment with university branding standards
Manage the annual communications calendar and oversee operational messaging deliverables
Analyze engagement metrics (web email surveys) to inform strategy and continuous improvement
Design and administer surveys; interpret and share results with project teams
Plan and support outreach activities and campus events (e.g. orientations awareness campaigns)
Present information to diverse audiences in person and virtually; serve as an ambassador for UWM IT
Develop marketing and informational materials including brochures and handouts
Support engagement efforts tied to training initiatives and project implementations
