Job Description:
The Activity-Based Technician (ABT) Lead provides a direct supportive role in the delivery of activity-based interventions. The ABT Lead will function as an effective team member and contribute to the development and achievement of department and organizational goals and objectives. The ABT Lead must be able to:
- Function as an extension of the Supervisor as directed providing leadership for day-to-day operations of the department.
- Effectively manage ABT schedule changes and reassign resources to meet departmental needs.
- Prepare the individual for treatment and assists in providing activity-based interventions.
- Lead educational opportunities competency training and mentorship for ABTs and students.
- Oversee operational duties such as equipment supply and environment of care responsibilities to ensure compliance.
- Provide efficient and effective care in a variety of organizational settings.
- Maintain computerized and paper records as directed.
- Assists in the delivery of activity-based interventions according to department policies and procedures.
- Effectively manages day-to-day departmental resources through ABT schedule adjustments and reassignment of support staff; coordinating equipment maintenance; ensuring a clean and safe environment of care; and leading/facilitating ABT educational and training opportunities to promote an environment focused on providing high quality activity-based interventions.
Other Functions:
- Remains accessible to departmental team members notifying each of any situations that would remove them from their assigned area.
- Reports responses to treatment to maintain safety compliance.
- Performs video functions as directed.
- Notifies appropriate team members of any cancellations and reasons for it.
- Communicates any incident or unusual occurrence and completes the appropriate forms as necessary according to department policy.
- Oversees completion of department logs.
- Organizes and adjusts daily work priorities to meet the demands of each operational day as demonstrated by ensuring coverage and coordinating an effective workflow.
- Assists other staff by informing the Supervisor Manager or designee of available time.
- Independently utilizes time of decreased patient care workload to complete all non-patient care responsibilities and demonstrates effective time management.
- Maintains productivity to maximize direct patient care and to allow work on individual goals and objectives.
- Maintains skills necessary to operate equipment properly and educate others.
- Assesses environment and equipment for safety hazards and reports all hazards to appropriate personnel.
- Oversees supply management in a timely manner to prevent delays of service.
- Accurately and proficiently orders supplies.
- Coordinates use of equipment with other health care professionals.
- Consistently returns equipment to proper storage area in good working order.
- Ability to lead intervention-related research protocol according to standard operating procedures as directed.
- Assists with data collection and entry as directed in the designated work setting.
- Performs research duties/tasks according to standard operating procedures as directed.
- Maintains compliance with all company policies procedures and standards of conduct.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description:
Education:
Bachelors degree in exercise science physiology or health related field. Knowledge of human anatomy physiology kinesiology and basic exercise science required. Masters preferred.
Experience:
- >6 months patient care experience in an activity-based practice setting required.
