The Role

TheFMEA Software Development Manageris accountable for leading the engineering team that designs builds andoperatestheFMEA platform GMs strategic solution for Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) FIT and related quality-risk processes. This role will drive the product and technical roadmap ensurehighquality securecloudreadydelivery and partner closely withDREs Quality Safety and Global Product Developmentteams to enable worldclass engineering risk management and issue prevention.
WhatYoullDo:
You will lead a blended team of GM and partner developers in an Agile environment own delivery outcomesendtoend(plan/build/run) and help mature FMEA into a moderndatadrivenAIreadyplatform tightly integrated with GMs engineering ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Providepeople leadershipfor the FMEA dev team (coaching performance management staffing career development succession planning).
Own theproduct and technical roadmapfor FMEA aligned with VEQ IT Product Development Safety & Quality strategy.
LeadAgile delivery(backlog management sprint planning execution release management) for FMEA ensuring predictablehighqualityoutcomes.
Partner withProduct Owners BAs Architects and DRE/Quality leadershipto translate business needs into clear technical designs and prioritized work.
Ensure the platform meetssecurity compliance reliability and performancestandards (Azure GitHub CI/CD observability tech debt reduction).
Drivemodern engineering practices: automated testing code quality secure codingDevSecOps continuous delivery.
Championdata and integrationmaturity for FMEA (APIs data models integration with upstream/downstream PD PLM and Quality systems).
Identifyand executemodernization and simplificationopportunities (cloud migration microservices UI modernization API-first design).
Partner with other VEQ and CIO teams toreuse platforms patterns and accelerators(logging monitoring identity data AI).
Managevendor/partner delivery contracts anddaytodayexecution quality.
Track and communicateKPIs(velocity quality stability user adoption satisfaction) and regularly report status to IT and business leadership.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelors degree inComputer Science Software Engineering InformationSystemsor related field (or equivalent experience).
7 yearsof experience in professional software development.
3 yearsof experience leading engineers (peopleleadership and/or formal Software Development Manager / Dev Manager role).
Demonstrated successdelivering complex enterprise applicationsin an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban).
Handson experience withmodern web application stacks(e.g. Java/Quarkusor Spring Boot Angular/React REST APIs relational databases).
Working knowledge ofcloud platforms(preferably Azure) and CI/CD tooling (e.g. GitHub Actions ADO) for build test and deployment.
Strong ability toengage with business stakeholders understand engineering/quality processes and translate them into technical solutions.
Proventrack recordofdriving execution managing priorities and dependencies anddelivering oncommitments.
Excellentcommunication collaborationand changeleadershipskills; able to influence across IT and business teams.
What Will Give YouACompetitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Prior experience supportingProduct Development Quality Safety or Risk Managementprocesses (e.g. FMEA FIT DRBFM 8D issue management).
Experience withdatadrivenandanalyticsheavyapplications; familiarity with data platforms (e.g. Databricks Azure Data services)a plus.
Experience integrating withPLM/CAE/Product Engineeringsystems or other complex engineering toolchains.
Experience leading or contributing tocloud migrations application modernization or microservice/API platform initiatives.
Background working withglobal distributed teamsand vendor/partner delivery models.
Work Model / Additional Information
Work arrangement:Hybrid primary locationGM Global Technical Center Warren MI; periodic travel to other GM sites may be.
This role is expected to be a visibletechnical and delivery leaderwithin VEQ IT championing modern engineering One Team culture and continuous improvement across the FMEA ecosystem.
