Oxford College a unique two-year liberal arts college within Emory Universitylocated36 miles east of Atlanta on Emorys original campus in Oxford Georgia invites applications for a full-timebenefits eligible Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistryfor the 2026-2027 academic year beginning in August 2026. This position may be renewed for up to threeyearstotal pending enrollment curricular need and performance evaluations.
The successful candidate willteachtwo lecture sections and the accompanying laboratories or the equivalentwhichmay bea combinationof first-year lecture andlaboratorycourses withthe potential foradditionalassignmentsdependingonexpertise.They willplay a key role inthefirst two yearsof Emorysnovelintegrated chemistry curriculum.The first course in thetwo-yearsequence begins withChemistry 150whichintroducesatomic and molecular structure including conformation and stereochemistry.The sequenceends with Chemistry 205 which introduces physical chemistry concepts with an emphasis on the interaction of light and matter.The lecture and laboratorycourses are taught alongside a cohort of faculty colleaguesinOxford Collegesstate-of-the-artscience facility designed to promote student-faculty collaboration scholarship and innovative teachinginSTEM.
Qualifications:
RequiredMSPhD or PhD completion expected by May 2026 in chemistry or arelateddiscipline.
PreferredCandidates with the potential to teach introductory and physical chemistry courses and a strong interest in teaching discovery-based laboratory experiences for undergraduates are particularly encouraged to apply.
